POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking enthusiastic, self motivated, ambitious dance instructors to train and teach under SalsaKnox Dance Company. Our instructors will have the opportunity to work and teach at our studio here in Knoxville, TN.
This is a part-time position and based on candidates experience and availability. Instructors have the opportunity to teach group classes and private lessons.
The position also offers opportunities for teaching workshops, corporate events and other off-site Salsa events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Being professional, on time for lessons, encouraging, and helpful
- Be a cheerleader at heart but a drill sergeant in execution
- Must love people and be comfortable giving sweaty high fives haha!
- Must be a team player and humble to take advice
- Prepare for each class, knowing the syllabus material and knowing how to break it down for leads and followers
- Attend teacher trainings, monthly meetings, practice events for students, etc.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Six months to one year teaching experience (or 2 years dance experience) is required. Teaching experience has to be in LA Style Salsa dance. If you do not currently have teaching experience, must be willing to take our instructor training program.
- Be a positive and dependable leader figure
- Have strong interpersonal and great communication skills
- Have a passion for teaching and educating
- Must be willing to do continued course training to stay up to date on needed instructional materials
- Must be extremely familiar with our services including class packages, events, to be able to communicate with clients
HOURS & SALARY
Part time position paid by the class.
Schedule depends on available classes and the candidate's availability. Based on experience, pay could vary from $15 per class to $25 per class
Event workshops pay varies depending on type of event - ranges from $15-$50.
