1. What types of in person large group classes does SalsaKnox offer?
We offer large group classes in Salsa and Bachata, and we have beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
2. What other types of instruction do you offer?
We offer private lessons, semi privates (1-4 people), performance classes, ladies styling teams, men's styling teams, and online live instruction, and online courses.
3. How can I start learning Salsa if I am an absolute beginner?
There are 3 options to start learning Salsa as a Beginner with SalsaKnox Dance Company.
Option 1:
If your main goal is that want to learn how to dance salsa while building community with others and making new friends, in person large group class is the way to go by joining: The 4 Week Salsa Bootcamp: For Absolute Beginners. These bootcamps are Mondays at 7pm at 4028 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN, and online registration must happen prior to attending the course.
Option 2:
If your main goal is to learn faster and also meet others on your same journey in a small group setting, Semi Privates are the way to go. A semi private consists of 1-4 people on your same beginner level working with a private instructor, so you can learn fast, just like in a 1:1 private lesson. Dates and times are more flexible to suit your needs.
Option 3:
If your main goal is to learn as fast as possible and to get private instruction to help you specifically grow in your needed areas, Private Lessons are the way to go. In a private lesson, you work 1:1 with a certified instructor, and you have the ability and flexibility to choose which styles you would love to learn: Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Merengue, etc. Dates and times are more flexible to suit your needs.
Option 4: If you want to learn or improve but the ideal of a large group class is not for you or you live outside of Knoxville, TN area, you will love our LIVE ONLINE CLASSES or ONLINE COURSES.
4. Do Waldo y Jacqui personally teach the classes?
Yes, Waldo y Jacqui personally teach you in your classes. With over 40 years of experience, this duo loves to teach and give you inspiration on your dancing journey!
5. How does SalsaKnox accommodate different skill levels in classes?
We create different leveled classes to accommodate the different skills of all our students: Salsa Bootcamp For Absolute Beginners, Salsa Intermediate, and Salsa Advanced. We also have Men's Team, Ladies Team, and Partner-work Teams for people interested to perform and go to the next level.
6. What should I wear or bring to a salsa class?
Wear comfortable clothing, and shoes without rubber on the bottoms that are fitted to the foot well. We do not recommend tennis shoes or shoes that flip flop around. We do recommend these comfortable Fuego Dance Sneakers. CLICK HERE to save 10% on your next order.
7. Do I need a partner?
Absolutely not. Everyone rotates in our classes.

9. What safety measures and policies are in place at SalsaKnox?
In order to ensure safety of our students, we always emphasize proper lead and follow techniques, connections, etc. We promote proper dance etiquette to provide a healthy and safe experience for every student.
